Applications
Industrial grade Propylene is the second most important raw material for the petrochemical industry, producing one of the most important polymers: polypropylene, a widely used plastic.
Propylene can also be converted to propylene oxide, a precursor of propylene glycol and polyurethane, acrylonitrile, cumene, oxo-alcohols, isopropanol and acrylic acid.
Propylene is also used in the production of isopropyl alcohol, Butanal (Butrylaldehyde), and other industrial chemicals.
In various industrial metal processes, propylene can be used as a fuel for the heating, cutting, and welding of metals due to its high heat output and clean combustion.
